How it works

From survey to sun

Six steps. The survey takes 45 minutes, the application 2 to 4 weeks and the installation 2 to 3 days. We file the paperwork; you sign.

The six steps

  1. 01

    Site survey

    45 min

We check the roof structure, which way it faces, shade and your DB board, and read your last TNB bills with you.

  2. 02

    Proposal

    24–48 h

A roof plan with the panels drawn on, the generation estimate and one fixed all-in price.

  3. 03

    SEDA and TNB application

    2–4 weeks

We file the Solar ATAP application and the TNB technical paperwork. You sign; we follow up.

  4. 04

    Installation

    2–3 days

Rails, panels, inverter, conduit, earthing and testing, by our own crew.

  5. 05

    TNB meter change

    TNB visit

TNB fits a meter that records both import and export, and the system is switched on.

  6. 06

    Monitoring

    First 90 days

We watch your generation remotely for 90 days and hand over the warranty pack.

Solar ATAP, in plain words

Where your power goes

Solar ATAP is the programme that replaced NEM for homes in Peninsular Malaysia. This is how it treats the power your roof makes.

  1. Your home uses it first

In daytime the fridge, aircond and water heater run on the roof before they draw from TNB. Every unit used this way is a unit you do not buy.

  2. The surplus goes to TNB

What your home does not use is exported. A home is credited for it at the energy-charge rate of the tariff, which is lower than the all-in rate you pay for grid power.

  3. Credits stay in the month

The credit only offsets that month's bill, up to a cap set by your system size. Anything left over is forfeited, and the bill does not go below zero.

  4. Size limits apply

A single-phase home can install up to 5 kW and a three-phase home up to 15 kW. Anything larger needs a TNB connection check first.

Your saving depends on how much you use in daytime; we show it from your own bill at the survey.

Most roofs can

Panels and rails add about 12 kg per square metre. Typical Malaysian roof structures carry that; we check the trusses at the survey.

  • Clay tile

Hook brackets slip under the tiles; no tile is drilled through.

  • Concrete tile

Same hook system, set to the tile profile.

  • Metal deck

Clamps on the seams or rails screwed into the purlins, sealed.

  • Flat concrete slab

Tilted frames on ballast, so the waterproofing stays intact.

What happens to the power I do not use?

It goes to the TNB grid. Under Solar ATAP, the programme that replaced NEM, a home is credited for that surplus at the energy-charge rate of the tariff, which is lower than the all-in rate you pay for grid power. The credit only offsets the same month's bill, up to a cap set by your system size, and anything left over is forfeited.

So how much will I save?

It depends on how much electricity your home uses in daytime, because power you use straight off the roof is worth the most. We work it out from your own TNB bill at the survey, not from a general percentage.

Does solar work at night or when it rains?

Panels only generate in daylight. At night your home draws from TNB as usual. Cloudy and rainy days still generate, at a lower output; our monthly estimates already allow for Klang Valley weather.

Do I need a three-phase supply?

Starter (4 kWp) fits a single-phase supply, where Solar ATAP allows up to 5 kW. Family and Max need three-phase, where the limit is 15 kW. Most semi-Ds and bungalows already have three-phase; we check your DB board at the survey.

Can my roof take the weight?

Panels and rails add about 12 kg per square metre, which typical Malaysian roof structures carry. Clay tile, concrete tile, metal deck and flat slabs can all take panels. We check the trusses at the survey before we quote.

How long does it take?

Installation takes 2 to 3 days. Before that, the SEDA and TNB application usually takes 2 to 4 weeks, which we file for you; after it, TNB books the meter change.

What maintenance is needed?

Very little. Rain does most of the cleaning. A professional clean costs RM 280 a visit, and the first 3 years of yearly health checks are free.

How can I pay?

Full payment with 5% off, 0% credit-card instalments over 12 months with participating banks, or a bank green loan of up to 8 years.
